1. SPX-CQ Promotion Activities in July

Aiming at promoting the online database of Chinese supplier manufacturing capability: www.SubconChina.com,  SPX-CQ continued visiting the China Offices of the following international institutions and enterprises in July:

The visits helped these institutions and enterprises get better understanding about the SPX-CQ’s online database and the fairs. They appreciated fully SPX-CQ’s bridging between Chinese enterprises and international enterprises, gave high praise for the professional service of SPX-CQ, extended their wish to cooperate with SPX-CQ such as passing the information about SPX-CQ to their domestic enterprises, and showed their interests in Subcon China 2009.

Moreover, all institutions showed their great interests in the concurrent activity of CIMAMotor 2009: “2009 Forum on Development of Chinese Motorcycle Industry”. They will pass the information of the forum to their domestic enterprises and institutions, and assist in inviting attendees.

2. Delegation visited Subcon 2009 in UK

From June 9^th to 11^th, 2009, with the great support from Chongqing Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Commission, a delegation organized by SPX-CQ visited Subcon 2009 held in Birmingham, UK. The delegation composed of 14 exhibitors and visitors from 6 Chongqing enterprises.

As one of the most important subcontracting fairs all over the world, SUBCON has been successfully running for 19 times already till this year. Subcon 2009 covered the space of 10,000 m², and drew the attendance from the 258 exhibitors and 10,000 trade visitors from 14 countries and regions including UK, France, Swede, China, Germany, Denmark, Spain, Ireland, Turkey, Hungary, India, Pakistan, Poland and Taiwan, China and etc..

With the aim to promote the reputation of Chongqing in UK as the leading industrial city of Western China, before its departure to UK, SPX-CQ passed the information of Chongqing enterprises to British Consulate-General Chonqing, over 50 UK chambers of commerce, associations and over 50 companies, inviting them to meet with the Chongqing delegation during the Subcon 2009. Moreover, after analyzing British market, SPX-CQ brought over 30 samples from 6 enterprises to the Subcon 2009. During the fair, SPX-CQ attended the seminar about Sourcing from China and exchanged ideas with British exhibitors about how to find good suppliers in China. Meanwhile, SPX-CQ also visited all exhibitors including chambers of commerce, associations, trade promotion agencies, trade companies, media and etc one by one. SPX-CQ also paid business visit to local associations including China-Britain Business Council, London (Head Office),Manchester Inward Investment Agency, Northeast Regional Development Agency, UK TRADE & INVESTMENT, and International Trade Promotion Center. All the delegation members showed their satisfaction about the fair.

3. SPX-CQ's Assistance in Organizing 2009 Forum on Development of Chinese Motorcycle Industry of CIMAMotor 2009

As one of the concurrent activities of The 8^th China International Motorcycle Trade Exhibition (CIMAMotor 2009) which is expected to draw the attendance from 450 exhibitors who possess over 80% manufacturing capability of Chinese Motorcycle industry and 50,000 visitors, 2009 Forum on Development of Chinese Motorcycle Industry will be held on September 17th, 2009 in Chongqing International Convention and Exhibition Center. The forum will be focusing on the topic of “How Can Chinese Motorcycle Enterprises Cope with Global Financial Crisis”.

As one of the organizer of the Forum, SPX-CQ will be responsible for inviting international institutions and enterprises to attend the forum.

Till now, SPX-CQ has been passing the information about the fair and the forum to 107 foreign embassies in China and about 200 foreign institutions and companies, which attracted great attention from the governments of over 30 countries

By estimation, the government officials from Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China, Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, Chongqing Municipal Government, and other 30 countries such as Turkey, Russia, UK, Italy, and Japan, and representatives from motorcycle associations (two wheeler) and chambers of commerce will present the forum.

All Chinese motorcycle media, key Chinese financial media, 11 overseas motorcycle media and over 100 internet media will give live report of the forum.

The forum will provide a platform for representatives of overseas governments to meet with the top management of Chinese motorcycle enterprises which have capability to invest overseas. It will benefit all attendees: for Chinese enterprises, they will get better understanding about the motorcycle market of the target countries and more opportunities to explore overseas market; for overseas governments, they can make more effective investment encouraging policies to attract Chinese investment.

4. Enterprise Assessment in Ethiopia

Invited by Economic and Commercial Counsellor’s Office of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Ethiopia, SPX-CQ sent experts to Ethiopia for on-site assessment of four local textile and leather processing enterprises to help them make effective improvement plan.

With the assessment procedure and tools of SPX-CQ, the experts carried out the assessment for the four enterprises: Addis Garment Company, Novastar Garment Company, Ramsey Leather Shoe Company, Modern Rege Leather Garment Company efficiently. Based on the practices of Chinese enterprises, SPX-CQ made suggestions on the improvement plan of the Ethiopian enterprises.

Minister of Ethiopia Capacity Building and Minister of Industry and Trade met with SPX-CQ’s experts respectively, and listened to the SPX-CQ’s proposal for the development of Ethiopian textile and leather industry

After listening to the introduction about SPX-CQ, Minister of Industry and Trade hoped that SPX-CQ could help the Ethiopian enterprises upgrade their export capability and increase the export volume. When meeting with Minister of Capacity Building, he entrusted SPX-CQ to recruit Chinese experts in the field of textile and leather processing to go to Ethiopia to help the local enterprises to improve their management and production efficiency, and SPX-CQ is expected about managing the project.

SPX-CQ experts also visited the Chief Representative of UNIDO in East Africa, and reported the project. The Chief Representative hoped that SPX-CQ could share Chinese practices with African enterprises and take more active part in “South-South Cooperation” of UNIDO, thus promoting Sino-Africa economic cooperation.
